Poem: Love
Times are hard but love is sweet.
The smell of her perfume over whelms me.
When I’m with her I fell like I can fly.
With out you I fell like I’m going to die.
My parent doesn’t like you but I’ve gone to love you.
When nobodies there your always there to comfort me.
Poem: Roses and Violets
Roses are red violets are blue
You are so sweet that is true
I love the way you make me fell
I love the way you hold me tight
I love the way you talk and sound
I love the way you kiss me now
I like the way you cook and clean
My love for you is oh so real
I would never make you fill bad or hate
If I do then all I would like to say
I love you and adios.
Poem: Emotionless Day
Happy, hate, horrified, sadness, anger, and loneliness
Haven no emotion is the best
No worries about anything
Or disliking anyone
Cause your just waiting for the day to be done
You could see a smile upon my face
And you wouldn’t know I’m having a emotionless day
Poem: Get Me Out
Every day I wake up and say.
Man I’m still here,
I wish I can make all this disappear.
I woke up to a buzzer noise.
Looked around and saw brick walls,
Then I heard welcome to Orange Count juvinahall.
Walked out side still asleep,
Until I saw some fool trying to creep.
He hit me up, asked me were I’m from,
I told him and then that leva swung his mop to my doam.
I ducked got him with a left and then a right.
Because when your in here you can’t leave without a fight.
I’m in my room playing spades with my roommate,
I looked outside and all these fools want to hate.
Man please get me out.
Poem
Mad inside but wouldn’t show the hate
Telling me” Cindy one day you’ll change”
“I hope it’s soon before I walk away”
I don’t want to see her cry
But then again I go outside and get in the ride
She gave me birth and held me close
And that’s why she’s the women I love the most
Poem: Krystal
I have lots to think about
With the times we’ve spent.
I feel like I have walked into
A dark black cave. I am a stranded
Soul that no one can save.I look back
And see what I have done. Now I see
How far we have come. I look into the
Mirror and all I see I’m eye to eye
With nothing but a slum. There’s a
Fear that I try to over come. When
I’m with you it just makes me numb.
I feel like I’m staring down the barrel
Of a gun. Now I see how far we have
Really come.
Poem
Didn’t care for a single soul
Fighting, drinking, smoking
Can’t stop her now she’s way blown
Doing everything she can feeling grown
No hesitation, no regrets
Is her every day say
The pain and the tears
Won’t make her change her ways
Feeling like giving up on her
But I can’t why? because I love
Her to death
Poem: Hard Times
When times are hard what do I do?
In times of joy what do I do?
When I’m in pain what do I do?
I fell lost with out you.
I need you by my side.
I fell to my knees and asked you forever.
You laughed and told me never.
When times are hard what do I do?
I look in to my eyes and all I see is you.
Poem: I Give Up
I give up on you
You know I hella
Like you
And you can tell I do
So now that I give up on you
I’m going to move on
But with out you
I hella like you but
I’m not the type of
Fu to beg for you
Don’t get me wrong
Mija
You are worth it
But
You don’t show no
Interest
So that’s why I’m
Giving up on you.
Poem: War
People in war
Getting killed
Heads getting blown
Of
You have to watch
Your back at all time
You don’t click clap POW
You’re dead
And then you have to
Watch your step
Click oh dang claymore
In the ground POW your
Blown up
You are dead now
Families are crying now
Their little baby’s are dead
Now is you funeral
You laying their dead
You brother is crying, sad, mad
He tells his mom
I’m going to war
as soonest he steps
pang headshot with a
sniper
dang your dead to.
Poem: Me and You
We can always get
Away
Because when is just
Me and you we won’t care
About the rest
So come on baby
Lets get lost in the middle
Of nowhere
And if you don’t want to
Be with me anymore don’t
You worry bout that ma
I always carry napkins to
Clean my tears on them.
Poem: My Girl
I wish you were my girl
Like the sunshine I get
In a cloudy day
And
You are the girl
That is meant for me
Is just how the
Honey was meant for
The bee’s to eat
And I have a sweeter girl
Than the birds singing a
Sweeter song
I guess the only girl
That can make me
Fill this way is
The girl I can’t have
Everyday
My girl
Poem
And already fighting for my soul
Scared inside but I couldn’t let go
Every night having to stay up
Waiting and waiting until he knocked on that door
I couldn’t say no, or he would die on his own
My mom far away
Where I couldn’t call her name
Who could I go to, so I can get away
I’m there with my sisters, with no way to escape
Praying and crying so he could change
But I guess my prayers weren’t strong
Because he’s still stumbling down the hall.
Poem: Thinking
I’m stuck, can’t move,
But I always seem to go back,
Sobriety conceives me.
Because of a balloon of black,
I ran, got stuck,
Now there’s no turning back.
Seems as if these ways,
Have taken over,
Now just give ‘em back.
Why can’t I just be me?
What do they want?
Poem: Darkness
Darkness is like my soul
With all the hate
Inside of it
And I rather live during
The night
Then the day
Because night
Is like my death
With all the anger and
The hate
This people have with
My race
And I rather be in
Hell
Then in heaven
Because in hell I
Can just be myself.
Poem: Decision
And time yet for
A hundred indecisions
I finally grow some balls
And made my decision
Curled once about the
House
And fell asleep
There will be time,
There will be time
Later on in the after life time
And would it been
Worth it
After all that time
And would of it been worth it
We have lingered in the chamber
Of the sea
Than I will become old
With a bald spot in the middle
Of my hair
And lay their all by my own
Poem: Football
There once was a football
That wanted to go through the net
But it once called a net it was a field goal
and he finally kicked it through and made a field goal
Poem: Sun Shine
Sun shining with bright
Lights and crushing bright lights
Of sun shining very bright heat waves
Flashing and the sun was finally not bright and it becomes night
Poem: Thunder Clouds
Black and gray
On a bad day you
See thunder and you
Will be true me
There once lived a cat that always played with his string. When we bring the party the cat got a pat on his back. His owner bought him a ball for his pals. He loves his mom and his dad more than ever. Then he went to the palace for the dance. Lance is the cat’s name.
Poem: Lust
Your lips, your smell, your touch
I can’t help but think its lust,
But when I look into your eyes
I can’t help but fall.
Peom: Advice
There is pain I see in your eyes.
Emotions run by that you try to hide.
You have been through good and bad.
You have seen a lot of things that will never fade.
Don’t give up their subsequent downfalls
that you will surpass.
Through a brick wall
there is a soul that cares.
Show it, let it free
A lot have hurt and deceived you.
Don’t lose hope keep your happiness
They might let you down
but that makes you stronger.
Yes its rare but you know I’m there.
No matter what has been said,
time passes by and I still care

Poem: Never Again
You were their before I turned around and walked down that hall way,
when I turned to see you again you were gone
and never came back.
Never leave me behind without saying goodbye.
Never leave me behind without resting your lips on mine one last time.
Kiss me with meaning and sensitivity.
Hold me as if we’d never see each other again.
Caress my body like never before.
Whisper in my ear what you think I want to hear.
Promises you’ll remember the memories of our secret rendezvous.
Promise you’ll never leave me behind with out saying goodbye,
Promises you’ll never leave me behind,
With out resting your lips, on mine, one last time.
Poem: Dreams
Every time I dream it always a bout you
and the way you smile
it’s about the way you talk to me
its about everything you say or do to me
when I dream about you I dream about the way we met
we started out as friends
your man left you and you was sad
I gave you my shoulder to cry on
I told you that it was ok
and that most guys are going to do that to you
Two weeks later you asked me out
I said Yes
Together forever and ever that’s what we said
It’s now six months
and were still together planning our future together
Poem: Tempting Fate
I am at the top of the top
But still I climb
If I were to fall
The ground would then turn to wine
There is a thin line
Between hunger and anger my man
And I ride a unicycle
Down the middle

Poem: Ready to Ride
Crap on my boots
Callous on my hands
Got my shirt tucked
My cowboy hat
Revolver on my waist
Ready to draw
Wild buckskin under my legs
Lariat on the side
Spurs on my boots
Ready to Rope
Poem
I feel hate inside
Like I can’t stand that person
Because there are
Running they mouth to everybody
Telling other people
Lies about other what is not
True about them.
Poem: I Had You
When I see you I smile
When I don’t I get down
And when you’re around
All I want to do is
Hold you.
But I can’t!!!
When I hold your hand
I don't want to let go,
But I have to
When I look into your eyes
Is the best feeling ever
Is like a natural high.
You’re like my phone
Always want to have you
Around.
And always hold you,
Play with you,
And see you
Dang I wish I had you.
Poem: Hammy
Acts like he is hard,
doesn’t care about people,
won’t get to know new people.
Gang member loving, caring,
easy to get along with,
skinny and really good looking.
You can see past the act.
You can see the sadness in his eyes,
the desire for his mom to love him.
Desire for some to care about him
like he cares about people.
The desire to have a family
to have someone around
to tell him what to do.
Desire of being loved.

Haiku's by Lesli
Each day I hack and
Cough and snuffle the mucus
In my nose and throat
Cowboys
Chaps and hats, tight jeans
Riding broncos and bucking
Bulls. They are real men.
Sunset
She bows gracefully
At the end of the evening,
Welcoming the night.
Summit
Crowded halls. Strutting
Students mark territory
Like male dogs in heat.
Photography
Click of the shutter
Shift of the lens – focusing.
Artistic beauty.
Shoes
Patent leather with
Four inch heels raising me up
To over six feet.
The Ring
It has a wide band
With a single solitaire
One caret diamond.
Bills
They come every day
Except on Sundays and I
Let them pile on up.
Madness
Padded walls inside
My head, blocking the daylight
Of my clear thinking.
Happiness Is
Being my own boss.
Walking my own street. Going
Down my own pathways.

Poem: Cell
it feels like hell,
I can’t even make bail.
I don’t even get mail,
I have a son, I know he is looking for mom while I’m gone,
but I will hold strong,
and mommas sorry for being a bad mom.
You come in with a big smile for mommas trial
and the judge looks at her file and your sol says no but the judge said sorry kid but momma goats to go.
I guess what I meant to say sorry son for being gone
and for not being a good mom.
I’m doing cool so I could get out and walk you to school.
They might only give me two more years
but I will be good to stop your tears.
Poem: My Rosary
As I walk on the concrete with 63 beads
And a cross around my neck
Just thinking of my future
And what to do next
The steps to take as the world feel like a maze
Got my head feeling twisted
And I got all this pressure building in my chest
And I know that this rosary is the only thing keeping me safe.
Poem: Another Day
Every day is another day.
But to me it’s insanity.
Every day is another day
But to me it seems the same, I feel the same way.
I always seem to hide the way I feel inside; I replace it by being happy,
Like if I was high on life.
Every day seems to be another day but when I look outside my eyes see the sky gray.
My heart dropped when my judge said no because he judged me by my race and because I gang bang.
But hey what can I do what can I say.
I did my time like it was nothing when go insane.
I just laugh and hold inside my pain.
Some people ask me why I gang bang some understand some walk away.
I’ve seen close friends pass away I hold it inside and let built up into hate and pain.
And wait for someone to take me to my grave.
“Every day is another day”
Poem: To My Sister
Not even words can describe that what your doing is wrong .
I can’t get through you because you say I did it to.
Now you’re out there running around with out a clue.
I can’t make you change, but I can help you be straight.
Don’t follow my example and don’t play my game.
Poem: The Sun
He wakes me up in the morning with a big burst of energy
The night was dead and cold
When I awake
I can’t wait to feel his fingers and hands
Running along my skin
Relieving my chills and goose bumps.
Poem: Music
Music breaths deep into my soul
Form that first listen. From that
First strum from that first beat
I get energy form my head to my feet
It makes me disappear. In to the night and I don’t come
Back for the rest of my life
So in tell that first not. Until that first strum
I will breath I will live Until I can disappear into the music again
Poem: You Are the Reason
You are 80% of the reason
Why I wake up every morning.
The other 10 is to take a piss,
the other 10 is to take a shower.
You are the reason
for why I don’t walk away everyday.
You are the best!
My one and only reason
why.
Poem: It Never Works
The system thinks that it will help us
But the truth is it never works
It’s all a front,
When we get out we are still
Going to smoke that
Blunt
We make them believe our lies
Make them think
Their program is working
So we can get back home to the girls
So we can keep on flirting
We don’t want to change why should we
If we do the whole crew
Will put us to shame
I can’t let the homies drop me
So I will not change
The system will never work
Poem: How Long
How long will he stick around?
Is he still going to be here tomorrow.
How far can I push him?
Will he keep taking it?
I try to leave but never seem to be strong enough to.
You can look into his eyes and see right passed the lies.
You know he won’t do anything to hurt you.
Will we still be friends after?
Poem: Falling
Falling from the sky
Falling so fast don’t know
What to do slowly falling from the
Sky posted with a parachute don’t now
When to pull but when I come close to hitting
The ground I pull then…. I wake up
Poem: Monkeys in a Barrel
We all know monkeys
But what about monkeys in a barrel
If they can roll so can we
Unlike humans monkeys are stupid
That doesn’t know how to think
The monkey likes to roll in his barrel
Just like me

Poem: Colors
This color rhymes with you
and it’s on the sky
this color is tight
it could even get you to fight.
People calling you names
and if you not from the same color gang
you don’t got game
man it’s a shame
because at the end
we are all the same.
This color could kill you
and it could never let you see
the real you.
You don’t know what you feel
but you have to keep it real
in other to not get killed.
But at the end it’s just a game.
Poem: American Ride
American Ride
This is the ride
the ride that takes time .
time can fly, fly by
lets let this ride be
the ride of our life
to Neverland
cause the ride will fly by
and you will see
see stuff that you have never seen
so let this ride fly
Poem: Gunshots
Gun shots are going off down the street
I ran down the street with my Gun
to see what had happened.
My friend was holding someone and
when I got closer
I saw that it was his girlfriend.
He was bloody for holding her
We was all sad because she was your friend
I was calming him down because he wanted to seek revenge
She looked nice but now she is gone
Three days later we put her to rest.
Me and my friends stayed with him
so he didn’t go seek revenge.
Poem: My Love Jane
I woke up one day with nada to do,
So I got out my note book and started writing about you.
I love this girl her last name is Jane,
I love her so much she’s always in my brain.
She gots me flying high like a freaking plain.
When I step outside late at night she gives me a kiss and I could feel it inside.
When I think about you I go crazy
When I hang out with you all I get lazy.
I love my girl Jane,
And to prove my love I’ll even get tatted up your name.
Poem: Freedom
Freedom is the condition of being free
Freedom is the board beneath your feet,
The sand between your toes,
Freedom is voting,
Watching the sunset,
Sticking your head out the window feeling the breeze,
Freedom is sitting on your best horse,
Looking at nature, relaxing
What’s your freedom?
Poem: Gun
The feel of the cold metal on my side sends shivers up my spine.
Will I take someone else’s life or will I just risk mine.
Is it the fear of life or just the fear of death?
Who am I to decide the fate of a man’s life?
Who is he to decide mine?
As I stare down the barrel I thick?
Who am I?
What have I done?
Poem: Love?
At times love could hold you back
like your in a cell with cold metal bars
holding you back from your freedom and dreams
you feel like leaving
but you don’t want to break another heart
that loves you passionately,
I can’t figure out what to say,
cause I love to do things
that she won’t let me do
so I’m asking you to give back my freedoms
cause I still got my dreams
and I’ll always love you
Poem: Peace
Peace is old. Peace is new
Peace is love peace is hate
Peace is clean. Peace is green

Peace is a way of death
Peace is fake peace is real
All around the world peace
Peace everywhere.
Poem: Life
Life is like a hard game
no one can’t get through life with out getting into trouble
sometimes it’s about love
and being with someone who you love and who is good for
you and who will be
there for you and not leave you behind them and
sometimes life is about fighting a against the law
with some people and it’s about being with their family and friends
and life is about making the right choice
to get through life if now what to do in life.
Home girl and home boy
Poem: What I love of you
I love your lips and your beautiful eyes.
I love your voice,
I like the way you smile.
I love the way you are,
you’re the best girl I have ever met!
I don’t know you that well.
But seems the first day I met you,
I can’t stop thinking and dreaming of you!
And when I first saw you,
I said to myself wow
this is my angel
you are my baby girl!
I like the way you dress
I love you, you’re the best
I love the way you talk to me well sometimes,
and I love the fact that we look at each other,
and then we smile at each other after words.
I like your hair, and I love your beautiful soft skin.
But the most of all, is the you I see every day!
Poem: Rotted Corps
There were rotted bones
Skulls not toads, dead people
With pointed teeth gone for ever
With their chicken liver, bone of death
With some pointed claws not paws, weirded
Eyes with disaster of faith posters of death not
Living rotting corps smoked corps like smoking some
Ports.
Poem: The Goat and His Boat
There once was a goat that had a boat
Then one day he saw a cat
He asked the cat do you want to ride in my boat
The cat said only if you play with me and Mr. Bat.
So off they went into the sea
Then they saw a shark that likes to bark.
The shark said hi my name’s Mr. Dee
Then a huge wave hit
They all went overboard
And then Dee ate all of them.
Poem: Live, Love, Laugh

Poem: Letters to Prison
I don’t want to write you.
I don’t know what to say.
You’re a loser.
I’m so disappointed in you.
I can’t write that.
What he wants to hear is:
I believe in you.
Which I don’t.
Everything will be fine.
Which it won’t.
You will never be okay.
How can I write that?
I can’t, so I won’t.
Sometimes we want to hear the lies.
Sometimes we don’t want the truth.
So, I’ll write:
Dear Jesse,
I don’t know what to say.
~Lesli
But, that is still a lie.
